NEW ZEALAND TO THE NBA

 

Steven Adams rose from humble beginnings in Rotorua, New Zealand. Half Tongan and the youngest of 14 siblings, Steven grew up in the Māori and Pacific Islander community. His friends and family encouraged him to pursue a career in professional basketball, which ultimately led him to be the 12th NBA draft pick in 2013.

Steven is now known to fans the world over as an iconic big man center. Above all, he is a proud New Zealander, wanting everyone to experience Aotearoa’s food and culture.
